We Are Women

It’s not polite to say it today, but women are different.  Like men, we’ve been created uniquely in the image of God, but we were created to be distinct.  We are made differently.  We approach the world differently.  We think differently.  We are daughters, wives, mothers, nurturers and caregivers.  God has given us a unique nature that embodies His love and mercy.

We’re not the first to realize this.  As Godly women we take our rightful place in an unbroken line of faithful followers of God throughout the centuries.  From Eve to Mary, Sarah to Phoebe, women have always played a part in the nurture and care of God’s people.

As a student in the deaconess programs at CTSFW you will discover what it is to embrace the mercy-filled nature that God has given you, as well as the unique gifts given to you personally.  You will be immersed in a sisterhood of women, caring for one another and for the world around you, seeking to share the Gospel of Christ with a broken and dying world through simple acts of kindness and mercy.

So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said,

“This at last is bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called Woman,
because she was taken out of Man.”

Genesis 2:21-23 (ESV)
